Quraan on Marriage and Marital Relationships

Please note:  I have not verified the veracity of these verses, however, over the years at the World Muslim Congress forum, Mohammad Irtaza has been sharing verses from Quraan on a topic basis, I have randomly checked for the accuracy and except once, he has been right in the quoting the right verses. However, the reponsibility is your to verify the verses. You can go to verse search on the right panel toward the middle and plug in the verse. This is a reliable source thus far and compares with the authenticated copy of the Quraan translation by Muhammad Asad at http://www.islamicity.com/QuranSearch/

Marriage is intended to be a long term relationship as we understand from many verses of the Quran:

[16:72]  And God made for you spouses from among yourselves, and produced for you from your spouses children and grandchildren, and provided you with good provisions.  Should they believe in falsehood, and turn unappreciative of God's blessings?

[30:21]  Among His proofs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves, in order to have tranquility and contentment with each other, and He placed in your hearts love and care towards  spouses.  In this, there are sufficient proofs for people who think.

[42:11]  Initiator of the heavens and the earth.  He created for you from among yourselves spouses - and also for the animals.  He thus provides you with the means to multiply.  There is nothing that equals Him.  He is the Hearer, the Seer.

[2:223]  Your women are the bearer of your seed.  Thus, you may enjoy this privilege however you like, so long as you maintain righteousness.  You shall observe God, and know that you will meet Him.  Give good news to the believers.

[4:35]  If a couple fears separation, you shall appoint an arbitrator from his family and an arbitrator from her family; if they decide to reconcile, God will help them get together .  God is Omniscient, Cognizant.

[2:226]  Those who intend to divorce their wives shall wait four months (cooling off); if they change their minds and reconcile, then God is Forgiver, Merciful.
[2:227]   If they go through with the divorce, then God is Hearer, Knower.

[65:2]  Once the interim is fulfilled, you may reconcile with them equitably, or go through with the separation equitably.  You shall have two equitable witnesses witness the divorce before God.  This is to enlighten those who believe in God and the Last Day.  Anyone who reverence God, He will create an exit for him.

[4:24] Also prohibited are the women who are already married, unless they flee their disbelieving husbands who are at war with you.  These are God's commandments to you.  All other categories are permitted for you in marriage, so long as you pay them their due dowries.  You shall maintain your morality, by not committing adultery.  Thus, whoever you like among them, you shall pay them the dowry decreed for them.  You commit no errors by mutually agreeing to any adjustments to the dowry.  God is Omniscient. Most Wise.

[4:25] Those among you who cannot afford to marry free believing women, may marry believing slave women.  God knows best about your belief, and you are equal to one another, as far as belief is concerned.  You shall obtain permission from their guardians before you marry them, and pay them their due dowry equitably.  They shall maintain moral behavior, by not committing adultery, or having secret lovers.  Once they are freed through marriage, if they commit adultery, their punishment shall be half of that for the free women.  Marrying a slave shall be a last resort for those unable to wait.  To be patient is better for you.  God is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

[60:10] O you who believe, when believing women (abandon the enemy and) ask for asylum with you, you shall test them.  God is fully aware of their belief.  Once you establish that they are believers, you shall not return them to the disbelievers.  They are not lawful to remain married to them, nor shall the disbelievers be allowed to marry them.  Give back the dowries that the disbelievers have paid.  You commit no error by marrying them, so long as you pay them their due dowries.  Do not keep disbelieving wives (if they wish to join the enemy).  You may ask them for the dowry you had paid, and they may ask for what they paid.  This is God's rule.; he rules among you.  God is Omniscient, Most Wise.

Marriage is intended to be a long term relationship and  the Quran discourages divorce:

[2:229] Divorce may be retracted twice. The divorced woman shall be allowed to live in the same home amicably, or leave it amicably. It is not lawful for the husband to take back anything he had given her. However, the couple may fear that they may transgress GOD's law. If there is fear that they may transgress GOD's law, they commit no error if the wife willingly gives back whatever she chooses. These are GOD's laws; do not transgress them. Those who transgress GOD's laws are the unjust.

Marriage is intended to be a long term relationship and  the Quran discourages dissolving existing marriage even it is unlawful:

[4:22] Do not marry the women who were previously married to your fathers - existing marriages are exempted and shall not be broken - for it is a gross offense, and an abominable act.

[4:23] Prohibited for you (in marriage) are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, the sisters of your fathers, the sisters of your mothers, the daughters of your brother, the daughters of your sister, your nursing mothers, the girls who nursed from the same woman as you, the mothers of your wives, the daughters of your wives with whom you have consummated the marriage - if the marriage has not been consummated, you may marry the daughter. Also prohibited for you are the women who were married to your genetic sons. Also, you shall not be married to two sisters at the same time - but do not break up existing marriages. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

Unlike Marriage, Mutah is fabricated only for the purpose of  sexual need as understood from the following  Bukhari hadith falsely attributed to the Prophet:

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 139:
Narrated Abdullah:

We used to participate in the holy wars carried on by the Prophet and we had no women (wives) with us. So we said (to the Prophet ). "Shall we castrate ourselves?" But the Prophet forbade us to do that and thenceforth he allowed us to marry a woman (temporarily) by giving her even a garment, and then he recited: "O you who believe! Do not make unlawful the good things which Allah has made lawful for you."

Now please compare the above fabricated hadith of Bukhari with the following  best hadith of the Prophet:

[5:87] O you who believe, do not prohibit good things that are made lawful by GOD, and do not aggress; GOD dislikes the aggressors.
[5:88] And eat from the good and lawful things that GOD has provided for you. You shall reverence GOD, in whom you are believers.

Sadly, Islamic scholars interpret the above verse 5:87 in the light of the Bukhari hadith, Volume 6, Book 60, Number 139  stated above and justify Mutah or " false marriage" to cheat the society in the name of Islam to legalize prostitution!!!

[24:33] Those who cannot afford to get married shall maintain morality until GOD provides for them from His grace. Those among your servants who wish to be freed in order to marry, you shall grant them their wish, once you realize that they are honest. And give them from GOD's money that He has bestowed upon you. You shall not force your girls to commit prostitution, seeking the materials of this world, if they wish to be chaste. If anyone forces them, then GOD, seeing that they are forced, is Forgiver, Merciful.

[31:6] Among the people, there are those who uphold baseless Hadith, and thus divert others from the path of GOD without knowledge, and take it in vain. These have incurred a shameful retribution

Thank you and may God guide me,

Muhammed Irtaza

Q3.28 Taqqiya

A successful conference on Qur’aan was initiated by America Together Foundation at the Unity Church with ten panelists representing different faiths. It was not an Islamic or a Muslim conference, it was indeed an American conference where the beliefs of one group of Americans were mis-represented by the other and the need to de-falsify was in critical to build a cohesive America.
We thank the Unity Church for their support, pictures and the details are http://www.quraanconference.com/
I was on Fox TV discussing Egypt with Sean Hannity and Robert Spencer and the topic turned to Qur’aan.
Here is the latest on Fox TV with Hannity and Spencer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5Q64RUxSd4
Spencer goes on to mis-quote Quraanic verses. There is not a holy book that tells its followers to lie, and Spencer says it is an Islamic thing to lie and pretend. He should know better than that, Americans are not dumb people, they will verify it before believing him. He was quoting verse 3:28 and I am producing verses 3:25 through 3:31 for the readers to judge.
You can buy a copy of the Qur’aan translated by Mohammad Asad or go online at http://www.islamicity.com/QuranSearch/ and plug in the verse numbers 3:28 and search with Asad translation.

If you are a researcher and have a genuine interest in finding the truth, we will furnish you an authenticated copy of the Qur’aan translation by Muhammad Asad.

Search For: 3:25-3:31 - -
Al-Imran (The Family of Imran)
·  3:25 (Asad) How, then, [will they fare] when We shall gather them all together to witness the Day about [the coming of] which there is no doubt, and every human being shall be repaid in full for what he has done, and none shall be wronged?
·  3:26 (Asad) SAY: "O God, Lord of all dominion! Thou grantest dominion unto whom Thou willest, and takest away dominion from whom Thou willest; and Thou exaltest whom Thou willest, and abasest whom Thou willest. In Thy hand is all good. Verily, Thou hast the power to will anything.
·  3:27 (Asad) "Thou makest the night grow longer by shortening the day, and Thou makest the day grow longer by shortening the night. And Thou bringest forth the living out of that which is dead, and Thou bringest forth the dead out of that which is alive. And Thou grantest sustenance unto whom `Thou willest, beyond all reckoning."
·  3:28 (Asad) LET NOT the believers take those who deny the truth for their allies in preference to the believers [19] - since he who does this cuts himself off from God in everything - unless it be to protect yourselves against them in this way. [20] But God warns you to beware of Him: for with God is all journeys' end.
Note 19 (Quran Ref: 3:28 )
I.e., in cases where the interests of those "deniers of the truth" clash with the interests of believers (Manar 111, 278). Regarding the deeper implications of the term "allies" (awliya'), see 4:139 and the corresponding note.(Quran Ref: 3:28 )
Note 20 (Quran Ref: 3:28 )
Lit., "unless you fear from them something that is to be feared". Zamakhshari explains this phrase as meaning, "unless you have reason to fear that they might do something which ought to be guarded against" - obviously referring to situations in which "those who deny the truth" are more powerful than the Muslims, and are therefore in a position to damage the latter unless they become their "allies" in a political or moral sense.(Quran Ref: 3:28 )
·  3:29 (Asad) Say: "Whether you conceal what is in your hearts [21] or bring it into the open, God knows it: for He knows all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and God has the power to will anything."
·  3:30 (Asad) On the Day when every human being will find himself faced with all the good that he has done, and with all the evil that he has done, [many a one] will wish that there were a long span of time between himself and that [Day]. Hence, God warns you to beware of Him; but God is most compassionate towards His creatures.
·  3:31 (Asad) Say [O Prophet]: "If you love God, follow me, [and] God will love you and forgive you your sins; for God is much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace."

God does not forgive idolatry.

My notes on Idolatary - attached below - Mike Ghouse
# # #

What is an idol (god), any way, in the Quranic perspective?

The idol can be your ego:

[45:23] Have you noted the one whose god is his ego? Consequently, GOD sends him astray, despite his knowledge, seals his hearing and his mind, and places a veil on his eyes. Who then can guide him, after such a decision by GOD? Would you not take heed?

The idol can be your kid:

[7:190] But when He gives them a good baby, they turn His gift into an idol that rivals Him. GOD be exalted, far above any partnership

The idol can be your property:

[18:42] Indeed, his crops were wiped out, and he ended up sorrowful, lamenting what he had spent on it in vain, as his property lay barren. He finally said, "I wish I never set up my property as a god beside my Lord."

The idol can be the prophet/messenger:

[3:79] Never would a human being whom GOD blessed with the scripture and prophethood say to the people, "Idolize me beside GOD." Instead, (he would say), "Devote yourselves absolutely to your Lord alone," according to the scripture you preach and the teachings you learn.

The idol can be the righteous man/saint:

[39:3] Absolutely, the religion shall be devoted to GOD alone. Those who set up idols beside Him say, "We idolize them only to bring us closer to GOD; for they are in a better position!" GOD will judge them regarding their disputes. GOD does not guide such liars, disbelievers.

Your true idol should be God, your Creator, period.

Tell me why do you say  "O my Maula Ali O my Maula hussayn".  Who is your Maula, God, your Creator, or they?!

Thank you and may God guide me,

Muhammed Irtaza

Alcohol and Intoxicants

The Quran is complete, perfect and fully detailed for our salvation.  It does not specify that the following verse 4:43 is only applicable to early Muslims on the intoxicant issue.  Other matters beside the intoxicant are discussed in the same verse in regard to Salat prayer:

[4:43] O you who believe, do not observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) while intoxicated, so that you know what you are saying. Nor after sexual orgasm without bathing, unless you are on the road, traveling; if you are ill or traveling, or you had urinary or fecal-related excretion (such as gas), or contacted the women (sexually), and you cannot find water, you shall observe Tayammum (dry ablution) by touching clean dry soil, then wiping your faces and hands therewith. GOD is Pardoner, Forgiver.

We need to carefully examine the following two commandments  of God on intoxicant:
[4:43] O you who believe, do not observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) while intoxicated, so that you know what you are saying....

[5:90] O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed.
The above commandments are still valid and will be valid as long as God Almighty wish to keep them valid.  The Quran does not imply any contradiction,
abrogation or evolution in the above verses.  The verse 4:43 clearly states not to observe the Contact prayers while intoxicated.  The verse 5:90 clearly states not to take intoxicant if we want to be successful.  The purposes are clearly stated and attached to each verse above.  According to 4:43, the Salat  is forbidden if we are intoxicated.  According to 5:90, the intoxicant shall be avoided so that we can be successful.  Essentially, the verse 5:90 supports 4:43.  It does not abrogate or contradict 4:43, nor it evolutes from 4:43.

If we are drunk, we cannot observe Salat and consequently, we are not successful!

The purpose of Salat is to remember God.  If we forget God, we forget ourselves!

[59:19] Do not be like those who forgot GOD, so He made them forget themselves. These are the wicked.

The Quranic ruling is precise and simple.  It is the "intoxication" we need to avoid.  If a drink does not have "intoxication" effect, it is not a bad provision. For example, cooking wine. The ruling is not on the "wine" but "intoxicant".

There are various factors such as weight, type of drink, food consumption, etc that determine the level of "intoxication".

When people are intoxicated, they do not know what they are saying.  The Quran precisely defines the "intoxication":

[4:43] O you who believe, do not observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) while intoxicated, so that you know what you are saying. Nor after sexual orgasm without bathing, unless you are on the road, traveling; if you are ill or traveling, or you had urinary or fecal-related excretion (such as gas), or contacted the women (sexually), and you cannot find water, you shall observe Tayammum (dry ablution) by touching clean dry soil, then wiping your faces and hands therewith. GOD is Pardoner, Forgiver.

Any source which has mental blocking effect is a bad provision.  For example, a piece of tobacco when chewed could have mental blocking effect and according to the Quranic standard it could be a bad provision.  Grape juice is a good provision.  But, when this juice is processed and turned into a substance which can block our mind and prevent us from understanding, it becomes a bad provision.

[16:67] And from the fruits of date palms and grapes you produce intoxicants, as well as good provisions. This should be (sufficient) proof for people who understand.

Intoxicant is a bad provision.  It is Satanic.

[2:219] They ask you about intoxicants and gambling: say, "In them there is a gross sin, and some benefits for the people. But their sinfulness far outweighs their benefit." They also ask you what to give to charity: say, "The excess." GOD thus clarifies the revelations for you, that you may reflect,
[5:90] O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed.
[5:91] The devil wants to provoke animosity and hatred among you through intoxicants and gambling, and to distract you from remembering GOD, and from observing the Contact Prayers (Salat). Will you then refrain?

Intoxicant is a bad provision. An example is given:

[22:2] The day you witness it, even a nursing mother will discard her infant, and a pregnant woman will abort her fetus. You will see the people staggering, as if they are intoxicated, even though they are not intoxicated. This is because GOD's retribution is so awesome.

Intoxication is Satanic and because of this, people in heaven will not experience it:

[37:41] They have deserved provisions that are reserved specifically for them.
[37:42] All kinds of fruits. They will be honored.
[37:43] In the gardens of bliss.
[37:44] On furnishings close to one another.
[37:45] Cups of pure drinks will be offered to them.
[37:46] Clear and delicious for the drinkers.
[37:47] Never polluted, and never exhausted.

The drinks available in the kingdom of Satan (earth) can have toxic effect.  On the other hand the drinks available in the Kingdom of God (heaven) do not have toxic effect.  So, we need to avoid drinking something which has toxic effect.

[5:90] O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed.

Again, the Quranic ruling is precise and simple.  It is the "intoxicant" we need to avoid.  If a drink does not have "intoxication" effect, it is not a bad provision.  There are various factors such as weight, type of drink, food consumption, etc that determine the level of "intoxication".

Muhammed Irtaza

Thanksgiving

May every day be  our Thanksgiving Day to God, the Most Merciful.

[2:152] You shall remember Me, that I may remember you, and be thankful to Me; do not be unappreciative.

[2:172] O you who believe, eat from the good things we provided for you, and be thankful to GOD, if you do worship Him alone. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving Day,

[14:7] Your Lord has decreed: "The more you thank Me, the more I give you." But if you turn unappreciative, then My retribution is severe.

[32:9] He shaped him and blew into him from His spirit. And He gave you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brains; rarely are you thankful.
[36:35] This is to provide them with fruits, and to let them manufacture with their own hands whatever they need. Would they be thankful?

[40:61] GOD is the One who designed the night so you can rest in it, and the day lighted. GOD bestows many blessings upon the people, but most people are not thankful.

Muhammed Irtaza

Free Will 2-256, 18-29

[2:256] There shall be no compulsion in religion: the right way is now distinct from the wrong way. Anyone who denounces the devil and believes in GOD has grasped the strongest bond; one that never breaks. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient.

[18:29] Proclaim: "This is the truth from your Lord," then whoever wills let him believe, and whoever wills let him disbelieve....

[6:104] Enlightenments have come to you from your Lord. As for those who can see, they do so for their own good, and those who turn blind, do so to their own detriment. I am not your guardian.
[10:99] Had your Lord willed, all the people on earth would have believed. Do you want to force the people to become believers?

[2:148] Each of you chooses the direction to follow; you shall race towards righteousness. Wherever you may be, GOD will summon you all. GOD is Omnipotent.

[73:19] This is a reminder; whoever wills, let him choose the path to his Lord.

Thank you and may God guide me,

Muhammed Irtaza
